| I began cutting up texts in 1994 as painting wasn't enough for me, six arms and ten legs churning, pick-axe slung over my shoulder, in an effort to get a hands on approach to poetry. Having long known the difference between theft and restoration - you find one, you find them both. I've always seen it as sampling, a literal mash up. I worked with the now defunct Beta Band on two album tours around the U.K as the warm up act reading the cut-ups i'd made. Getting applause in one corner, boos and hisses in the other and taking potshots from the wings. It felt good! I have travelled widely; U.S.A, Mexico, Thailand, India, Nepal, West Africa, Northern and Southern Europe and have lived in France, Russia and Ghana. Currently living in Denmark. I've done the run of menial jobs and am still doing them. I bounce between painting and writing; one feeding the other. |
